Ronde Van Vlaanderen

Boonen wins again. Obviously, this guy is good. IMHO, Hoste blew the tactics. Yes he attacked and only Boonen came along for the ride, but he should have known that he would never beat Boonen head to head in a sprint. Also, Hincapie was the designated leader and was in great form. Hoste attacked on his own without direction from Hincapie or the team car.

His brilliant quote, "I've been saying for a while now that you should attack if you want to win. The ones who wait are not right - OK, I didn't win, but still..."

Hoste should have waited for the Muur or Bosberg, and tried to make a move WITH Hincapie (or set him up). Hoste got cocky after winning the 3 Days of De Panne and sold out his team leader for personal glory. Unfortunately, he didn't have the legs to go with his ego.

Hey Hoste, get back to work for your team leader and the folks that pay your salary and quit thinking of only yourself. Second and third is nice, but next year people will only remember that Boonen won. It would have been nice to see what you and Hincapie could do against Boonen and Bettini after shedding a few more guys on the last climbs. We'll never know.

Woooo, fire from Hammerson.

What about Hincapie coming with Hoste in order to attack Boonen? Or did Hincapie not have it? If Tommy boy is the clear favorite, don't the strong guys go with him? I think the whole strategy thing has taken a lot of the fun out of racing. It used to be much wilder, with solos and different attacks. Now it's so guided with radios and tactics that it gets rather boring (I much preferred Vino's attacks to Ullrich's hanging with Lance).

Oh well, at least the Belgians have a new hero until they find his EPO...
