Clean as a whistle

Our boy LA was on Larry King Live tonight to address the new doping allegations from the fat piece of trash, Jean Marie LeCrap. I watched the whole thing, tivoed and rewatched certain responses. Bottom line is that Big Tex did not dope. The allegations are bunk. One of his greatest points is that he has consistently gotten better and faster since '99. So then, how would he have gotten better if he was a doper in '99 and had to quit? He also said that he has never used performance enhancing drugs and that the only time that he used EPO was in 96 when fighting cancer.

I believe him to be telling the truth.

First, this is plain and simple only about one thing, $$$$$$$. Nothing more, nothing less. The TDF has been the lead story in virtually every newspaper and television show across the world. The French rag has probably made a ton of extra revenue. Everyone is chasing the almight $, including LA. I don't believe for one second that he is pure virgin white wool. He is also doing this for money. How far people will go for money, only they know. If tests were and are not in place to determine what someone is pumping into their body to improve their chances, then we can only guess based upon impressions of the person. Look at TH, who would have thought, but he may have just pushed the envelope a bit far and underestimated the testing.
The comments that 'look, I am better now than then. So I must have not used EPO' is ludicrous. I am better now than I was 1, 2, 3 and even 4 years ago. I have not stopped using EPO, I am just smarter about how I prepare and have followed the better training techniques.
In the end, do I think he is guilty? I don't know, but what I do know is that I don't know how far someone will go to be considered the greatest of all time and how far they will go to attain the riches that go with that level of succes.

While it is undoubtably about money, I believe in the "increasingly better" arguement as a fact. The use of EPO is like the difference in using a mountain bike versus a road bike. Just ask David Millar. I would suspect that the ability to find EPO has increased greatly every year since 98.

As for LA's money, I think he is trying to protect his image as a marketing tool. As for JM LeCrap, he is trying to explain to the Frog faithful why some American his kicked the everloving crap out of every Frenchie to ride a bike.

First of all, hello Fabio, long time no hear...

By pushing LA off the top, what's JM left with? A german non-marketing Kaiser who also kicked every Frog's ass and a bunch of never made it big weirdos from other countries.

The whole "it's a conspiracy thing" is just plain annoying. If he says "hey, maybe they found something, let's investigate, cause I'm clean" that would be cool. Otherwise, all the French being out to get him is just paranoia and self indulgent, which matches the overall attitude in the US anyway.... Besides, if he is getting stronger each year, maybe he's using something better than EPO and it's not yet detectable.

I am on the "clean" side of the fence for now, but I was with Tyler, too. Besides, I don't give a shit what they're taking. I loved Pantani, and he was dirty as an Italian girl's pits... I just hope Vino never tests positive, cause then his cracking so often would be a waste.

EPO is like OJ...

I agree money is a motivation in this issue and in all professional sports. I don't think that LA is a saint. I do believe that he is an amazing athlete that was competing in pro triathlons at 16 and won a World Championship in cycling at 21/22. David Millar was a rider who wanted to be great and either realized he wasn't or lacked the self confidence to realize that he was with a bit more work and without the drugs. I don't think that LA needs drugs, and I think he has too much at risk to be stupid enough to use them. I think that the newspaper, lab and TdF organization have been irresponsible in their behavior thus far.
